What is Night Fire?

Night Fire is a percussion ensemble that uses both music and visual components to create high energy performances at basketball half-times and Minnesota Percussion Association competitions. Our students range in age from 14-21.

What are the benefits of being in a Drum Line?

Not only will you become more proficient in the techniques of drumming, but you are surrounded by other students who are dedicated to working together as a team to create a quality, high energy performance. Close friendships result from the teamwork, dedication, competitions, and travel when working and playing with others toward a common goal.

What if I don't play drums?

With a little effort and dedication anyone can be a part of Night Fire. While many of our members have played percussion before joining, we have students who have never played percussion as well as some who have never played a musical instrument before becoming a member.

What do I have to do to become a member?

Students are selected on the basis of talent, personal attitude, and desire to learn and perform. If you are interested in joining, complete the 2007-2008 Membership Application, or contact our Director, Wesley Ford, at progdirector@thenightfire.org .

What will it cost?

Our program is divided into two seasons. Our winter season begins in October and runs through the end of March. Dues of $200 are collected to cover the cost of equipment, equipment maintenance, travel, and other operating expenses. Students are also responsible for purchasing a pair of white pants and white marching shoes. Shoes are ordered through Night Fire for a cost of $30.00.

Our summer season begins in May. Dues for the summer season are $100. Other costs are the same as above.

We also strongly recommend that each of our students purchases a pair of marching sticks, drum pad, and metronome to practice with.
