Summer Drum Line Director

Director: Night Fire Drum line

Term: The director of the Night Fire Drum Line is appointed by the BOD of the FMDBCA. Term is on a season by season basis.

Assume responsibility for development and instruction of drum line performances.
Work closely with the program director to establish practice and performance schedules.
Communicate with drum line members, staff, and BOD regarding schedule times and location.
Work closely with the recruitment director and others to promote drum line membership.
Attend BOD and business meetings and provide reports as needed.
Supervise instructional staff and delegate duties as appropriate.
Be familiar with FMDBCA policies, mission, and vision.
Assure that policies and procedures as related to member safety and environment are adhered to.
Provide input regarding equipment and budgetary needs to the BOD.
Provide at least a 5 month notice to the BOD of plans for desire to continue or not into the next season.
Confer with successor and provide an outline of duties and advice. Serve as an advisor to the new director for at least one year after completion of term. This may be done electronically.

Knowledgeable regarding drum line operation and technique instruction
Musical and percussion skill
Prior experience performing in a drum line is preferred.
Clear understanding of moral and ethical responsibilities relative to students.
Consistent sense of responsibility and work ethic
Punctuality
Preparedness
Accountability to students, staff, parents, BOD.
Strong communication skills
Enthusiasm and love of percussion and marching arts
Understanding of team effort and team building
Ability to motivate, put competition into perspective, and convey a positive learning environment.
